The second round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship took place at Imola, where Ferrari secured its second win of the season—this time with car #51 driven by Pier Guidi, Giovinazzi, and Calado. Unlike the 1-2-3 result in Qatar, this race saw three different manufacturers on the overall podium.
Giovinazzi took pole on Saturday, and car #51 led the early stages. However, two safety car periods—both triggered by LMGT3 incidents at Rivazza, including a crash caused by Valentino Rossi—shuffled the pack and kept the fight for victory wide open. Nine Hypercars from Ferrari, BMW, Toyota, Porsche, and Alpine were all in contention at one point.
Ferrari’s race-winning move came in the final 30 minutes. Pier Guidi pitted for a splash of fuel—saving crucial seconds and rejoining just ahead of BMW. The Italian held firm to the flag, earning Ferrari’s first WEC win with this car since Le Mans 2023. Pier Guidi also completed an impressive two-hour stint on a single set of soft tyres.
BMW finished second with the #20 car of Rast, Frijns, and van der Linde—marking another strong result after Fuji 2024. Alpine took third with Schumacher, Gounon, and Makowiecki, who earned his first podium since switching from Porsche.
In LMGT3, Richard Lietz held off heavy late pressure from van der Linde to win for Manthey’s Porsche #92. Lietz shared the car with Ryan Hardwick and Riccardo Pera. Despite a stop-and-go penalty for Rossi’s #46 BMW earlier in the race, his crew still secured second place—an impressive result in a very tight field. Rossi shared driving duties with van der Linde and Ahmad al Harthy.
